If you haven't already bought a new coat, now is the perfect time to do so because of the sales period. Finding a good, warm and at the same time stylish coat can sometimes be quite tricky and can take up time, especially this winter season, as there are various designs to choose from. 

Let's see what options we have when it comes to shape: there are 1990s-influenced oversized coats with a boyish cut for the advocates of the androgynous style and for those who believe in "The bigger the better", elegant sleeveless coats and figure defining feminine coats. 

Colourwise, things become even more complicated: we can choose between coats in classic neutral and pastel shades, in vibrant hues - perfect for colour blocking (as seen at Paul Smith) - and two tone coats that made a difference on designers' catwalks! 

As for the pattern, coats with checks prints - some in unexpected colour combinations - were spotted on the catwalks of many designers including Louis Vuitton, Stella McCartney and Victoria Beckham.
